Messenger WhatsApp apparently has technical problems: messages can neither be sent nor received. The parent company Meta confirmed a global breakdown.

“We are aware that some people are currently experiencing sending and messaging issues and we are working to restore WhatsApp as soon as possible,” said a spokesman for WhatsApp parent company Meta.

Users from Germany, Great Britain, India or South Africa reported on Tuesday morning that the service was not working. At around 9 a.m., error messages and complaints about WhatsApp were piling up on the German portal “All disturbances”. In the meantime, more than 200,000 people affected have reported.

It is unclear when WhatsApp will work again.
