The United States mourned by yet another shooting. A shooter opened fire on the evening of October 25 in a bowling alley and a bar-restaurant in the northeastern United States, killing at least 18 people and injuring more than fifty, according to American authorities. The drama played out in Lewiston, the second largest city in Maine.

American police services released the photo of Robert Card, the alleged perpetrator of the shooting. Still on the run and armed, the suspect is actively sought by the police, engaged in a disproportionate manhunt to find a man presented as “dangerous”. “We encourage all businesses to hunker down or close while we investigate,” county law enforcement warned.

Aged 40, the American is a middle-aged white man with short brown hair and a few days’ beard. He studied engineering at the University of Maine between 2001 and 2004 according to NBC News. The suspect’s criminal record included only two speeding tickets in 2001 and 2002. The alleged shooter is a qualified firearms instructor and is believed to be in the Army Reserve, according to a bulletin published by the Maine Information and Analysis Center (a database for law enforcement) and also reported again by NBC News.

According to the same official bulletin, Robert Card recently “reported mental health issues, including hearing voices and threatening to shoot up the National Guard base in Saco, Maine.” He was committed to a mental health center for two weeks over the summer before being released.

A suspicious vehicle was found in the neighboring city of Lisbon. This small white SUV with a black-painted bumper belongs to the suspected shooter, according to Maine State Police. The population of the state has been ordered to remain confined, and not to approach Card or seek contact with him.
