The deceased former Brandenburg interior Minister Jörg Schönbohm (CDU) is to be adopted on Friday with a funeral service in the Berliner Dom and the honor of the military of the Bundeswehr. As the grief of the speaker for the divine service the President of the Bundestag Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU) and Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) are provided. Brandenburg’s Minister of the interior Karl-Heinz Schröter (SPD) ordered mourning flagging to the authorities and institutions of the country: On Friday the flags in Brandenburg flying at half-mast.
In the Berlin Cathedral, the former President of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany, Wolfgang Huber, to hold a sermon. Following the Ceremony, a mourning ceremony for the German armed forces with large military Honor guard is planned. The Public is admitted on the Express wish of the family to the funeral.
Schönbohm was the night of the 8. February, died. Under him, the National people’s army of the GDR was dissolved after the reunification and in the German armed forces integrated. Later, he started his political career: From 1996 to 1998, he was a Senator for the interior in Berlin, and from 1999 to 2009, the interior Minister of Brandenburg. Schönbohm lived in Kleinmachnow, near Berlin. In 2012, he had suffered a stroke. (mak/dpa)
