iHLN less than 7 out of 10 Belgians are in favour of technologies such as robots and artificial intelligence (AI). This is evident from a survey of the Free University of Brussels at 1,000 Belgians. Result of the research is the launch of the new book ” Homo Roboticus’, in which fifty VUB-scientists, the relationship between man and robot mapping. The academics formulate recommendations for the shared future of humans and technology.
The Belgians will find robots and AI mainly a good thing, because they are routine tasks at work or in the household can perform. The majority, 8 out of 10, find robots to take over too dangerous or too heavy for people.
However, the Belgians also skeptical: more than half think that a robot job can run, and 2 on the 3 Belgians think that robots and AI more jobs will disappear than the rest.
Only 1 in 3 believe that there was once deep friendships can develop between human and robot. A quarter gives on the other hand, he or she good friends could be with a robot, on the condition that those emotions to recognize and show.
But there are also more intimate observations, a third of the respondents believe that sex with a robot is equivalent to adultery.
What is a ” Homo Roboticus’?
