The body of an apparently dead woman was found in a river in Prien am Chiemsee in Upper Bavaria. A witness saw the body on Monday afternoon in the Prien and informed the police, the officials said on Tuesday in Rosenheim. The woman apparently died violently.

Forensic medicine identified the dead woman as a 23-year-old from Aschau im Chiemgau. During the investigation, clear traces were found that indicated external violence and proved a homicide, the police said.

According to initial investigations, the young woman had visited a music club in Aschau on Sunday evening. She left in the early hours of the morning. Further investigations are to clarify what happened next. A special commission was set up at the Rosenheim Criminal Police Inspectorate. She asked for witnesses.
