The Zurich airport AG today announced Friday that it has received the concession for the construction, development and operation of the new airport from Noida. This is an industrial town South of Delhi. The new airport is located about 80 kilometers from the Indian Capital away, and should play a decisive role, in order to cope with the expected air traffic growth in the Region.
The concession for the Zurich airport operator ranges over a period of 40 years. With the first phase of development-related investments amounted to according to the communication, around 650 million francs. Of 280 million, the maximum out of the equity of Flughafen Zürich AG, the Rest is foreign capital.
The construction will estimated to be about four years. After the commissioning of the first construction phase the new airport will have an annual capacity of 12 million passengers. For comparison, The Zurich airport used in the last year, 31 million passengers.
Comeback on the subcontinent
The Flughafen Zürich AG is currently at eight airports outside of Switzerland involved. All are in Latin America: four in Brazil, two in Chile and one in Colombia, and Curaçao. From the Indian market, the company dropped out two years ago, when she sold her share of the airport in Bangalore.
