A Jury of the competent Federal district court in San Francisco ruled Wednesday that Monsanto cancer risks of the Herbicide, Roundup is a controversial active ingredient glyphosate liable.
Monsanto has to pay to the plaintiff, Edwin Hardeman damages in the total amount of more than $ 80 million (70.8 million Euro). The cancer-stricken pensioner had used glyphosate-containing herbicide Roundup for many years.
Bayer said on Wednesday in an initial statement that it was “about the verdict of the Jury disappointed,” and announced that it would appeal. The company reiterated its view that the herbicide is not carcinogenic.
