Feyenoord is on the verge of reaching an agreement with Philadelphia Union to acquire Argentine forward Julián Carranza, as reported by the well-informed Fabrizio Romano late Tuesday night. The Italian journalist writes that a deal is in the works and is imminent.
The interest of the Rotterdam club in Carranza has been known for some time. Last week, 1908.nl reported that Feyenoord had made an initial offer to the Americans, who are likely to let Carranza fly to Rotterdam-Zuid for a bargain price. This is because Carranza still has a contract until the end of this calendar year. A free transfer at that time was also not ruled out by that medium. It is not yet clear what the clubs are negotiating about.
What is clear, however, is that Carranza will become the new attacking leader of the Rotterdammers. Romano reports this almost as if an agreement is in place. Feyenoord is finalizing the last details and hopes to then sign the 24-year-old player for multiple seasons. He could be seen as a successor to Santiago Giménez and a competitor for Japanese player Ayase Ueda at De Kuip.
In addition to this potential transfer, journalist Martijn Krabbendam reports that either Timon Wellenreuther or Justin Bijlow will leave Feyenoord this summer.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the official announcement of Carranza’s arrival and are excited to see how he will contribute to the team’s success. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
