Sint-Truiden, Two suspicious men have Monday night around a farmhouse crept into the Keelstraat in Sint-Truiden. The masked perpetrators walked quietly through the front garden, and watched carefully by the window. A burglary was fortunately not, but a moment later, called a third companion or via the intercom system. The residents fear that the trio is a homejacking wanted to commit.

“Itself, we heard shortly after 22: 30 hours, suddenly our doorbell,” explains resident Sven Van der Meiren. “We first decided to not to reply via the intercom system. But apparently called a man again. So, we wanted to ever hear what exactly was going on. An unknown man spoke to us in French. He told me that he lost his way, and he had some help. We live effectively in a rural street. The man stood, therefore, that we just came out of the door, to him all good. But that we have so late in the evening wisely refused, then the call ended.”

Suspicious companions

Because the resident of the situation rather suspicious was found, he looked at quickly the camera images earlier that evening were made around his home. Great was his surprise when it turned out that just before, effectively, two strange men around his home had crept. “You see them on the pictures the entire house to explore,” says Van der Meiren. “They look through the windows and trying apparently to find out whether someone was at home, and if so to pick it up fell. Fortunately, they were ultimately not entered, and they walked through the entrance way.”

Homejacking?

Even bigger was the surprise when the occupant is also the camera looked at, during the ring of this strange man who lost his way. “Those two comrades that first time around our house had crept, were their appearance to make behind the angle of the side wall. Apparently heard the men all together, and they wanted to provide me with a list to the outside lure. Their goal? No idea. Maybe they wanted to test first whether we were at home, possible they wanted afterwards a homejacking commit. Why was I different absolutely open the door? And why were those two companions otherwise to the corner to wait for? Fortunately, so that we are not open have done.”

Sven Van der Meiren struck, of course, late at night a still alarm to the local police. That did immediately have a buurtonderzoek, but unfortunately the suspicious trio already disappeared without a trace. “We see on camera, however still that they to their car shelter had been prepared in a fruit plantation. At their departure, they drive between the apple and pear trees back to the street to go away.” The police are investigating in the meantime the images from the camera, and try the suspects.
