The German air traffic control has reported a fault in their Software. The safety in the air is more assured, it could come to delays.

In the Control centre Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) in the Hessian town of Long a software fault has occurred. The airports of Frankfurt am Main, Cologne/Bonn, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf are affected accordingly. The safety of aviation is not compromised, the company reported.

The Problem is occurred according to the DFS, in a System for the electronic representation of the so-called control strip. This is not functioning error free. The control strip shall provide information for the air traffic controllers about aircraft type, flight distance, or the expected crossing time.

By the fault, it could “possibly” delays, informed the DFS. As a precautionary measures, namely, the amount of Traffic in the Long controlled airspace has been reduced. This stretches from lake Constance in the South to Kassel in the North and from the French border to Thuringia. Other air spaces are not affected by the problems.
