For a research of the Wageningen University gave 200 participants a measuring cup to take home with the assignment, the amount of wine or liquor that they gave to measure. They used their own glasses and they were in advance, not by what the standard portion was, so that this knowledge them couldn’t influence. It went to people who at least once a week drink alcohol.

The participants appeared to be quite flush: on average they took 30 percent more than the standard portion. On average, names of participants 132 ml of wine and 47 ml of liquor. “We wanted to know how many people now really pouring at home,” said Aafje Sierksma, one of the researchers. “In our research we have not beer included, because it is often in a can or bottle.
