“A not very cool but necessary message,” writes Camille Blandin in a preamble in a message published on Instagram. The young author from Toulouse had “all of his work” stolen this weekend after a burglary in his shared workshop, while valuable objects such as screens or graphics tablets were not stolen. “All the original plates, of all my books including one to be published (fortunately scanned), as well as several boxes of research, paintings, drawings of all kinds, have disappeared. Obviously, I have the impression that it is targeted, but I am completely incomprehensible,” wrote the stunned 25-year-old author.
Faced with this unfortunate event, Camille Blandin sends a message to readers counting on their vigilance to find her work. “I would like to ask you to contact me if you see an original board of mine for sale or elsewhere: I have never sold an original board, so it will inevitably come from this theft.” In his momentum, like a bottle in the sea, he also addresses the thief. “If you committed this theft and you read this message,” he hopes, “it’s not too late, you can always give me my job back.”
Author of humorous strips, Camille Blandin launched his Instagram account @strrripclub in December 2019, where he publishes them regularly, we learn from the alternative publishing house Exemplaire created by the designer Lisa Mandel. The young Toulousain “leads various projects around comics, between webcomics, puzzles, posters and illustrations for individuals”, specify the editions which published, last April, his album Papa ou le Francky.
