Pianos installed in train stations are often the scene of hesitant performances. However, it happens that a miracle appears in front of the black and white keys to offer travelers a moment suspended in time. At St. Pancras station in London this Monday, the star’s name was Alicia Keys.

The fifteen-time Grammy-winning singer warned her followers at the last minute via an Instagram story: “Here you go, I’m here in London and I’ve just decided to pop over to King’s Cross. I get out (of the car), and I’m going to jump on Elton John’s piano because I want to. What do you say about it ?”. It was enough for his fans to rush into the hall of the famous station.

Sitting at the keyboard of the legendary piano offered by Sir Elton John who also performed in St. Pancras station in 2016, the singer improvised a short performance. Among the hits performed, fans and passers-by were able to hear the title Empire State of Mind. The crowd cheered when she changed the lyrics “now you’re in New York” to “now you’re in London”, a nod to the city where she had performed at Capital’s Jingle Ball on Sunday evening.

The New Yorker then sang her hits If I Aint’ Got You and No One before ending with her latest single, Lifeline which will appear in the film The Color Purple, a dramatic musical comedy which will be released on January 24 in France.

This year, Alicia Keys is celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Diary of Alicia Keys, the album for which she won the Grammy Award for Best R Album
