Since his indictment for rape in 2021, Ary Abittan had been forced to remain silent. The actor had been discreet on social networks and in the media during the investigation. In July, the justice closed the judicial investigation and placed the actor under the status of assisted witness, more favorable than the indictment. A few weeks later, the actor announced his return to the stage.
“I never stopped writing. So excited to see you again for my new show (…) I miss you so much that words struggle to express, ”wrote the actor in a message posted on his Instagram account. At this time, no show date is scheduled. But according to France TV Info Polynésie, the actor would have already returned to the stage in Tahiti at the end of August with a new show called En running. 800 people reportedly attended the performance.
The actor was indicted in November 2021 for raping a 23-year-old woman. During the investigation, the investigating judges recognized the “indisputable” post-traumatic stress of the victim, but failed to establish a connection with the actor. The same judges considered that there were “no serious or concordant indications from the judicial information” on the facts of rape, reports La Voix du Nord .
At the same time, other elements of the investigation were deemed “likely to weaken the probative value of the clues initially retained”. In particular the testimonies of former companions of the actor who described “a respectful partner” and the psychiatric and psychological expertise, which did not “reveal elements of personality in favor of deviant sexuality or aggressive sexual impulses”. The magistrates finally explained to “question the credit given” to the complainant’s statements. The actor was placed under the status of assisted witness and the judicial investigation closed.
For her part, the plaintiff announced that she would file a new independent complaint for “aggravated violence against a partner and prejudice with more than 8 days of ITT”.
