Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz and Jon Batiste are on the bill for a concert for the planet this Thursday evening at the foot of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, on the sidelines of an international summit at the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron.

The artists H.E.R., Finneas (brother and collaborator of Billie Eilish, who also performs solo) and Mosimann (sound architect of Grand Corps Malade, who also plays his own card) will also participate in the free festivities planned at the Champ de Mars. This place, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, had already welcomed a slew of stars in 2021, including Elton John, under the aegis of the NGO Global Citizen, again in charge.

The superstar of the evening is Billie Eilish, 21, seven-time Grammy winner. The Californian is known for her environmental commitments. The singer has given up on private flights and her 2022 “Happier Than Ever” tour, named after her latest album, featured eco-villages promoting environmental charities. “I shouldn’t do merchandise but no one is going to stop wearing clothes, so I’m doing the best I can,” the Bad Guy singer told Vogue magazine earlier this year when she posed and discussed with eight young eco-activists. Entitled “Power our planet (feeds our planet): live in Paris”, the Parisian event will highlight the summit for a “new global financial pact” in the face of the climate challenge, organized Thursday and Friday in the French capital at the initiative of President Macron.

“The next generation inherits a planet devastated by climate change,” said Lenny Kravitz in a statement from Global Citizen. “We have the power to change things through our voices and our actions (…) act today to save tomorrow” continues the interpreter of Are You Gonna Go My Way. The singer and guitarist will perform like the other headliners in a short format, with only a handful of songs, during this show organized between 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Global Citizen expects 20,000 spectators. Access is free, all you had to do was make a commitment on the NGO’s website to pass on a militant action against poverty or for the environment to the networks.

Organized in partnership with the City of Paris, produced by Live Nation, the largest concert organizer in the world, the Parisian show will be broadcast online (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Amazon Music Twitch, Apple Music, Apple TV , iHeartRadio, 9Now, CSTAR, SABC, TNT, Veeps, Global Citizen app).

“Power our planet: live in Paris” also mobilizes luxury ambassadors such as actresses Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) or Oscar-winning Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) also present, who will speak between the artists’ sets. The latter says she is “delighted to support” this event “so that together we call for climate justice”. Michelle Yeoh is already a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). “There will be no climate transition on a global scale if we do not fight for more justice and equity”, warns Emmanuel Macron, also quoted in the press release from Global Citizen.
