A renowned British conductor, Jan Latham-Koenig, was charged on Thursday January 11 with sexual offenses against a minor, London police announced on Friday. Arrested on Wednesday at London’s Victoria station, the 70-year-old conductor was charged the next day with facilitating sexual offenses against a minor and communicating of a sexual nature with a child, according to Scotland Yard. He is due to appear in court on Friday at Westminster Magistrates Court in London.

Jan Latham-Koenig was decorated in 2020 for services to music and cultural relations between the United Kingdom and Russia. He has notably conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the BBC orchestras.
