Comedian Yassine Belattar must be tried on September 18 by the Paris criminal court for death threats and crimes targeting people in the entertainment world in 2018 and 2019, we learned on Friday from sources close to the case.
The radio host, who became a polemicist and voice of the suburbs at the Elysée, was indicted in March 2019 for death threats, threats of repeated crimes, repeated sending of malicious messages and moral harassment. These prosecutions cost him his place on Radio Nova, where he had hosted the daily show Les 30 glorieuses since 2016.
At the end of the investigations, an investigating judge at the Paris court ordered a trial on September 21, 2021 against Yassine Belattar, 41, for malicious calls in 2017, repeated death threats in 2018 and 2019, as well as threats of crimes repeated in 2018.
The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed to AFP this trial against the performer of Ingérable, the title of his show. He is accused of having threatened to kill a screenwriter and director well-known in the world of stand-up, the latter’s production director and three comedians.
“We are delighted to finally be able to explain ourselves, in a judicial forum and in a contradictory manner, on facts which have been the subject of all the speculation and conjectures in the media. Facts of which I recall that for a large part, they were the subject of a dismissal”, reacted to AFP his lawyer, Me Safya Akorri.
The magistrate did not in fact accept the moral harassment of which a former collaborator of France 4 accused her. She also dismissed the death threats of which Bruno Gaccio accused her, considering that “no element of the procedure (demonstrated ) the existence” of these facts. The investigation began with a complaint on January 24, 2019 from the former author of Guignols de l’info, who accused the comedian of having threatened him by telephone after an exchange on Twitter.
Franco-Moroccan, Yassine Belattar was the first comedian to return to the stage at the Bataclan after the attacks of November 13, 2015.
His speeches on the suburbs earned him the attention of Emmanuel Macron, who appointed him in 2018 to the Presidential Council of Cities, intended to fuel the executive’s thinking on priority neighborhoods.
