Mark Margolis died of an illness on Thursday August 3 at the age of 83, his son announced to the Hollywood Reporter on Friday morning. He was hospitalized Mount Sinai of New York. Famous for his roles in Breaking Bad, or Better Call Saul, the actor also had more than 70 films to his credit, including Scarface, Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan.

On social networks, the tributes are raining. “He was one of a kind. We will never see his likes again. (…) I was lucky to know him”, shared his manager since 2007, Robert Kolker.

Born in 1939 in Philadelphia, he had become Darren Aronofski’s favorite actor. Passionate about theatre, he took lessons in New York where he learned alongside Stella Adler at the Actors Studio, then Lee Strasberg and Barbara Loden. Spotted very quickly, he goes on to play small roles. He becomes essential after having interpreted Alberto “The Shadow” in Scarface, Antonio Nappa in the series Oz and Don Héctor “Tio” Salamanca in the series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He also played alongside Ben Affleck in Gone Baby Gone, Black Swan, The Insurgents and The Last Goodfellas.
