Voices of journalists in the middle of a piece of rap. A few days after sparking a controversy, singer Gims unveils a new song, Hernan Cortes, in reference to the Spanish conquistador. In this song, the rapper broadcasts the denials and mockery heard in the media after his conspiratorial remarks on the existence of electricity in the time of the pharaohs. The video has already surpassed 100,000 views.

Gims had claimed that the pyramids were antennas capable of conducting electricity. “The pyramids that we see there, at the top there is gold. Gold is the best conductor for electricity. It was damn antennas, ”he explained to the microphone of the youtubeur The Chairman. Before exclaiming: “And historians know it!”

“I say nothing more, you like too much to take my words out of context”, denounces the singer at the end of a verse. A silence of a few seconds. Then the voices of journalists and comedians heard on radio channels, remixed but recognizable. “Gims which, it must be said, has more or less slipped”, we hear at first. Then the voice of the journalist and satirical columnist of France Inter Mathieu Noël: “Gims, who was not only an immense rapper but also a solid historian”. Before broadcasting a piece of the humorous post by Daniel Morin, who officiates on the same channel: “The singer said that in the good old days of ancient Egypt, there was already electricity”.

A nice media stunt for the singer, who surfs on this buzz to unveil his first song. A small nod to this controversy: the illustration chosen for this new title represents three pyramids with a gold top, next to an electricity pylon.
