“Thank you for the unfailing love.” For the first time since he shot himself in the chest on April 22, Kendji Girac broke the silence and spoke publicly on his Instagram account. The 27-year-old singer took the opportunity to thank his fans for the support they continue to give him since the tragedy.
“Ten years ago I won The Voice thanks to you and this date is forever engraved in my heart,” writes Kendji Girac on his social networks. I would have liked to give back a little of everything you gave me by being on stage today to celebrate this anniversary, but that is not possible and I am responsible for that.”
The interpreter of the Andalouse hit claims to have “apologized at length” to his family and his teams but wanted, “on this special day which changed my life, [to] apologize to all of you because I know everything the pain and worry I may have caused you.”
His injury prevented him from performing in Marseille on April 26, during the festivities organized to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Games. And his return to the stage does not seem to be happening right away. In the meantime, Kendji Girac is treating himself and resting “to come back even stronger thanks to you,” he promised on Instagram. “I want to leave this period of my life behind me. Today, I move forward and I will do everything to live up to your support and trust.”
Sunday May 5, Soraya Miranda, the singer’s companion, assured that her husband had “never blackmailed her into suicide”, thus contradicting the remarks made by Olivier Janson, the prosecutor of Mont-de-Marsan, in an interview granted to the Parisian. “Kendji never blackmailed me into suicide, let things be clear,” she told the daily. I never suffered the slightest violence whatsoever from him.”
