“It all started in a studio…” and it could all end there. A few days ago, the pop rock band Kyo, whose hits from their famous album Le Chemin punctuated the 2000s, promised a cover of their title Last Dance to celebrate the song’s 20th anniversary. Additional novelty: the title has been reinterpreted, in the studio therefore, with the Canadian singer Cœur de Pirate. The group revealed the composition this morning on its YouTube channel.

A way for the group to return “to the sources” of its success, with a title guaranteed to surf on the nostalgia of the fans. The group also split Thursday with a message on Instagram full of self-mockery: “Kyo is relaunching his Skyblog ^^”.

On the photos that accompany this message, references to the 2000s in spades (and to the blogging platform Skyrock, which announced that it would close its doors soon): the kitsch filters generated via the Blingee application, roses, sequins, and flame-shaped photo frames.

If he is less present in the media, Kyo has continued for twenty years to regularly release new albums and to tour in concert. In 2022, the group had finished traveling all over France to perform its new album and celebrate the twenty years of the group. The singer and his musicians had ended their tour with a stopover in the Casino de Paris (9th arr.), full to bursting that evening.

On social networks, the group did not hide their emotion about this collaboration between them and Cœur de pirate, also at the height of their career in the 2000s. “Going back to the studio to re-record this track was an unforgettable experience” , wrote the quartet.
