The “greatest” show ever given. Madonna will give a free mega concert on May 4 on the legendary Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro to celebrate the end of her tour, organizers announced in a press release on Monday. It will be the only free show on her Celebration Tour, intended to thank her Brazilian fans, according to the singer. No tickets are required for the event, entry will be applied on a first come, first served basis.
With this immense show, Madonna celebrates her big return to Brazil after more than ten years of absence, her last visit dating back to 2012. The organizers explained during a press conference that this concert will require logistics similar to that of the traditional New Year’s Eve fireworks show, which takes place every New Year on Copacabana beach, attracting at least a million people each year. . Madonna is not the first to organize a concert of this scale on this large crescent-shaped beach. In 2006, a Rolling Stones concert in Copacabana attracted between 1.2 and 1.5 million people, according to estimates.
Copacabana will be the singer’s only detour to South America, with the rest of Madonna’s concerts taking place in North America. Currently, the pop icon, holder of seven Grammy Awards, is preparing to deliver three concerts in Miami and five at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, the only Latin American stop before Rio, on May 4.
