Fifty years of career are worth celebrating! For the occasion, Marie-Paule Belle chose a setting, the Petit Théâtre de Passy. With intelligence: the dimensions of the place are perfectly adapted to the repertoire – intimate and crafted – of this great singer. Because if Marie-Paule Belle has become known, since her first record in 1973, for her satirical songs, she also excels in a more serious and personal register. The author of these lines, who has nevertheless seen others, came away with everything from his concert, a mixture of craftsmanship, sympathy, playfulness and above all, honesty. Marie-Paule Belle does not hesitate to tell between her songs anecdotes which have marked her career since her first steps on the stage of L’Écluse in 1970 – a cabaret where Brel also debuted in 1953 and Barbara in 1954. In short, the place where beautiful French song made its debut.
She has mastered the alchemy of a show that is both sparkling and intimate – like an evening with good friends offered by a great artist. She makes us laugh with her Biaiseuse chez Paquin, she knocks us down with her masterful interpretation of the famous Say, when will you return? by Barbara. This concert celebrates the song, the one that transports you and which targets the heart. Alone at the piano, she says and sings so well so many things in life! The staging is extremely simple and the lighting is absolutely beautiful. Result: a little gem like you rarely see. She had taken up residence in Passy for ten days, but she will play overtime from June 4 to 16 at the Théâtre de Passy. Don’t miss them! New album, Un soir entre mille (distributed by Panthéon/Universal).
