The scenario seems on the verge of joining the boxes which already include the third part of Kill Bill, the sequel to Pulp Fiction or the very improbable Star Trek film that the director, a fan of the series, had planned to make. According to Deadline, Quentin Tarantino has put the project for his tenth film, called The Movie Critic, on the shelf. He had already postponed the start of filming, according to indiscretions for a change of script.
The action is supposed to take place in the late 1970s in California and follow the adventures of a film critic named Jim Sheldon, who specializes in pornographic productions. A release date had even been brought forward: 2025. The feature film, which was a continuation of Once upon a time… in Hollywood, released in 2019, seemed to echo the director’s adolescence and his memories of the articles from ‘a critic who left his mark. “He wrote in a sarcastic and intelligent way,” Tarantino testified.
For the casting, Brad Pitt was selected. The two men had already collaborated in 2009 on the film Inglourious Basterds and in 2019 for Once upon a time… in Hollywood. Is the production finally buried? Not that easy.

In 2014, Quentin Tarantino had already canceled a project whose script had leaked. To better resume it after a few months – and modifications in the scenario – and thus produce The Salopards Eight with Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Kurt Russell.
But the pressure is great on the director who has made it known that his tenth film will – probably – be the last. Rumors have mentioned a Kill Bill 3, the filmmaker himself had imagined bringing together Uma Thurman, alias Beatrix Kiddo in the first two volumes, and her daughter Maya Hawke. In the end, nothing came to fruition.
