Juror of the Alpe-d’Huez Festival, Marilou Berry was questioned by Le Parisien about the return of her uncle, the actor Richard Berry, to the stage on January 25. In 2021, the latter and his ex-partner, the singer Jeane Manson, were accused by their own daughter and daughter-in-law, Coline Berry, of incest and sexual violence that she allegedly suffered when she was a minor in 1984 and 1985.

The 40-year-old actress, who has always supported her cousin, says that this situation “inspires contempt in her. Seeing him go back on stage in a lawyer’s dress….” “It’s extremely annoying to see him take on this role of vigilante,” she adds. Richard Berry met with great critical success for his one-on-one Plaidoiries where he recited extracts from the pleadings of the greatest tenors of the bar. In his new show, The Audience is Open, he “highlights emblematic legal cases.” But Marilou Berry notes with satisfaction that there are still many unsold places, “even for the premiere”.

Coline Berry’s complaint was dismissed due to statute of limitations in August 2022. A situation that revolts Marilou Berry: “There was an investigation which determined that, if the facts had not been prescribed, Richard Berry would have been judged. I don’t yet know what my cousin is going to do, but I think this matter is not over,” she says.

Coline Berry was sentenced in April 2022 to pay a fine of 2,000 euros for defamation, as well as 20,000 euros in damages to her former mother-in-law who sued her for defamation, and 5,000 euros in legal costs. This decision was overturned by the Court of Cassation in December 2022.
