The magazine Les Inrockuptibles awarded its French novel or story prize on Tuesday to Neige Sinno for Triste tigre, a book which is among the favorites for several major literary prizes this fall. Published by POL in August, the story of this author, until then very little known and who lives in Mexico, was one of the sensations of the literary season.

In a lively style, and after several decades of reflection and research, this 46-year-old mother recounts the repeated rapes imposed on her by her stepfather in her childhood, the consequences on her life and the questions that arise those crimes for which the rapist was convicted.

Neige Sinno, who won the literary prize from the daily Le Monde, can still win the Goncourt, Décembre, Médicis and Femina prizes, all awarded at the end of October or the beginning of November.

The Inrocks awarded four other prizes. The prize for the first novel or story went to another story, Not everyone has the chance to love stuffed carp by Élise Goldberg (Verdier editions). This author explores her Ashkenazi origins through gastronomy. The prize for foreign story or novel was awarded to Mexican Cristina Rivera Garza for The Invincible Summer of Liliana (Globe editions), an account of the assassination of her sister in 1990, never elucidated, but probably committed by an ex-companion .

For the essay prize, the cultural magazine crowned two titles tied. The End of Monsters by Tal Madesta (La Déferlante editions) is the story of a trans trajectory. And Kafka, the time of decisions by the German Reiner Stach (Cherche-Midi editions) is the first of three volumes of an immense biography of the Czech writer. Finally, the comics prize went to Nine Antico for Madonnas and Whores (Dupuis), an album which recounts the destiny of three Italian women in the 20th century.
