Taylor Swift is racking up the records. Tuesday August 29, the singer became “the first female artist in the history of Spotify to reach 100 million monthly listeners”, explains the streaming platform on her Instagram account. The interpreter of Blank Space now occupies second place in the ranking, ahead of Bad Bunny (79 million), Ed Sheeran (77 million), Dua Lipa (77 million) and Drake (76.3 million). The Weeknd retains his title as the most popular artist with 109.6 million monthly listeners.
The news is not surprising. In recent years, Taylor Swift has established herself as one of the most influential stars in the music industry. Last July, the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) earned her a place at the top of the famous Billboard 200. In total, the singer has placed 12 albums at the top of the ranking, becoming the female artist with the most #1 selling albums, ahead of Barbra Streisand, according to Billboard.
Taylor Swift also became “the first living woman and solo artist” to have 11 albums placed simultaneously in the top 200 since August 1963. The absolute record is – still and always – held by Prince with 19 albums on the Billboard, dated May 14, 2016, shortly after his death.
Currently, the singer is continuing her world tour titled The Eras Tour. She will be at La Défense Arena in Paris on May 9, 10, 11 and 12, 2024 to present four exceptional shows.
