The hole in the Cabaret Vert program did not last long. After announcing the cancellation of the Lomepal concert, under investigation for rape, the festival, which is to be held from August 16 to 20, announced that the rapper would be replaced by the group Black Eyed Peas. The American hip-hop group will perform on August 17, when Lomepal was originally scheduled.
In another press release sent to the press on Wednesday August 9, the festival recalled on the deprogramming of Lomepal “that presumption is a fundamental principle” before declaring that “Cabaret Vert cannot remain indifferent to the emotions aroused by this complaint and this , in accordance with its values”. “The priority is to let justice do its job. In this expectation, the organization of the festival considers that a time of retreat and silence is essential. This is why we have decided to cancel [the arrival of Lomepal] at the Cabaret Vert”, finally declared the organization of the festival. On social networks, he finally clarified: “We are working with a lot of energy in a very short time on a replacement. We will get back to you very soon.”
This deprogramming comes following accusations of sexual violence against the rapper. In an Instagram post, independent journalist Jenna Boulmedaïs had published a text in July in which she was annoyed by the supposed omerta in the music world around sexual violence committed by Lomepal. According to her, the entire music industry would be aware of her actions.
Some time later, the Paris prosecutor’s office revealed that a rape investigation had been open against the rapper since 2020, for events that occurred in New York three years earlier.
