The Paris National Opera and its Academy created the first lyrical youth orchestra in France entitled ADO (Apprentissage De l’Orchestre). The group encourages students aged 12 to 18 to develop their musical practice and discover the opera and ballet repertoire.
ADO was born from a partnership between eleven conservatories located in Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis. Free, the project is designed to facilitate the involvement of families. The ADO group will be placed under the direction of French conductor Victor Jacob, finalist and “Special Mention” of the Besançon International Competition 2019. Nearly 150 students will follow a multitude of internships and training courses throughout the school year. workshops. Young people will benefit from collective practices in partner conservatories and will learn the lyrical and choreographic repertoire of ballet and opera. And in order to perfect their learning, weekly work sessions in the conservatories, rehearsals at the Paris Opera and singing and dance workshops – taught by artists from the institution – will be organized one Saturday per month. Intensive three-day courses, carried out during school holidays at the Opéra Bastille, will complete the students’ training. The ADO orchestra will also allow young beginners to take a discovery tour of the Paris Opera with their family and also to visit the theaters, attend shows and meet professionals.
At the end of the school year, the young musicians and dancers of the ADO beginner orchestra will have the opportunity to prepare the program for the concert on June 16, 2024, and thus perform on the main stage of the Opéra Bastille .
