To make the soundtrack of DAAAAAALI! , his next film, Quentin Dupieux offers himself Thomas Bangalter. The news was announced by the director himself, on his Instagram account, on Tuesday. With DAAAAAALI!, Quentin Dupieux, to whom we owe Incredible but True, Smoking makes you cough or even Yannick, wants to relate the meeting between a French journalist and the famous Catalan painter Salvador Dalí, played by Jonathan Cohen. The two characters meet several times, for the production of a documentary. The film is scheduled for November but must be presented, in preview and out of competition, at the Venice Film Festival, from September 6.

This is not the first time that Quentin Dupieux and the ex-member of Daft Punk have teamed up. In 2015, Thomas Bangalter made a brief appearance, with his face uncovered, in Réalité, with Alain Chabat. At the time, the helmeted duo were at the peak of fame. He had released, two years earlier, what turned out to be his last project, Random Access Memories. Since their separation, in 2021, his helmeted companion Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, has been discreet. Thomas Bangalter continued his career. In 2022, he participated in the soundtrack of the film En Corps, by Cédric Klapisch and was entrusted entirely with that of the mini-series Irma Veep, for HBO. Last April, the artist released his first solo album, Mythologies – ballet music choreographed by Angelin Preljocaj – abandoning electro music in favor of orchestral music.
