The city of Hamburg, Germany, on Saturday broke a new world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Harry Potter. For the event, fans dressed in a long black cape, round glasses and a scar on their foreheads.
Exactly 1,758 people, dressed as the famous wizard imagined by British author J. K. Rowling, were present at the rally. They met in the town hall square of this city in northern Germany, according to the organizers of the competition.
Among the participants was a very young audience, with a large number of children and teenagers. Harry Potter “has always fascinated me, as well as all this world of magic”, testifies Isabelle Sichting, 16 years old, who did not want to miss the event. The call was made as part of a day to celebrate Hamburg-based publishing house Carlsen Verlag’s publication of the first German-language volume of the best-selling literary series 25 years ago.
The Australian city of Perth held the previous world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Harry Potter since 2017, with no less than 997 participants.
