Almocita Eco-encounter celebrates seventh edition. The promotion of ‘Sabores Almeria, the Provincial Council’s gourmet brand, will be the highlight of the weekend. There will also be a wide range of activities under the slogan ‘Returning the water, sun, and Km 0’. This initiative and this message aim to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and natural environments, as well as the benefits of local products.
This edition’s program combines cultural and social content with information content. Sustainability and innovation topics will be addressed in various round tables. The VII Ecoencuentro de Almocita was made possible by the institutional collaboration of the Provincial Council, ’Sabores Almeria’, the Municipal Council, and the Animated Globetrotters Association.
Yesterday’s program was revealed by Paco Garcia, president of the Animated Globetrotters Association and Maria Luisa Cruz, deputy for Agrifood Promotion.
The deputy congratulated both the City Council as well as the Association for launching this new edition. He also took advantage of the opportunity to invite all Almeria members to this event that “turns Almocita to a epicenter of La Alpujarra and the rural world in which we will defend the sustainability to which we are dedicated”. Support for our product, and rural companies, which make up the majority of ‘Sabores Almeria,’ is essential and the Provincial Council will always support them.
Almocita’s mayor highlighted that the Eco-meeting was an example of Almocita’s involvement with its neighbors and associations in fighting climate change, conservation and enhancement our natural environment, and heritage. Our responsibility to future generations is affected by the Eco-encounter. We also face a challenge in the demographic area. That is why we must place our trust on the rural areas that are Almeria’s heritage.
The president of the Animated Globetrotters Association, for his part, recalled that “this was a way to deal with climate change, of empowering territories, and the way to get ahead with food that’s close by and doesn’t come from far away. We had abandoned the orchards, and small amounts of electricity produced by waterfalls. I believe that this energy must be recovered through the sun’s energy and activation of the orchards>>.
Today’s VII Eco-encounter, “Returning to water, sun, and Km 0” opens at the Theater in Almocita at 10 AM. This will be the beginning point for many round tables and meetings. A kilometer zero agroecological Paella and local craft beer will be offered at 2:30 p.m. The afternoon will see the continuation of the round tables. At 8:30 p.m., the night will open up to music.
The activities will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 3. There will also be concerts, stalls and workshops such as the goldsmith’s workshop.
