The consumer price index stood at 4.9% over one year in August, fueled by the “clear rebound” in energy prices, INSEE said on Friday, revising its first slightly upwards. estimate (4.8%).

Inflation marked a jump after the 4.3% increase over one year recorded in July. It was fueled by energy prices which increased by 6.8% year-on-year in August due to the 10% increase in electricity prices and the rebound in gasoline prices.
