New trophies on the DGCCRF hunting board. Thursday morning, the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control pinned three new influencers, accused of various embezzlement. In quick succession, the institution published the names of Julien Bert, Laura Agogue and Rym Renom on Twitter.
In detail, Julien Bert, two million subscribers on Instagram, did “not indicate the advertising nature of the publications (stories)”. This could “lead the consumer to believe that the recommendation is made from the perspective of personal experience”. In addition, the influencer played his fans by letting them “believe in the possibility of certain and regular gains by using a copy trading service”.
Rym Renom, 1.8 million followers on Instagram, also promoted products without mentioning that it was a paid partnership with the brand and that the posts had a commercial intention. Additionally, she had “spread content that gave the impression that a hyaluronic acid injection service […] was lawful when it was not.” This fact is all the more serious since the claimant did not have the status of doctor.
Finally, Laura Agogue – better known under the pseudonym of mam_active, is also accused of having touted several products to her 134,000 Instagram subscribers without specifying that it was a paid partnership.
These publications, soberly titled “injunction”, are in reality the ultimate summons before an administrative or criminal report. These three influencers, accused of deceptive commercial practices, must therefore put an end to their illicit practices. They join the list of personalities already singled out by the administration: in June, Illan Castronovo and Simon Castaldi had already had to post a message on their social networks for thirty days, due to “misleading commercial practices”. The deadline having passed, they hastened to delete them since.
If the list of hunting of the DGCCRF should still lengthen thereafter, the body of repression of the frauds specifies in Figaro that only these three influencers will be pinned today. Publications are made as the files are processed.
