Music Or Maurice Engelen, the man behind Praga Khan, not to slow down a bit would do now that he’s 60, has become? On the contrary. With his technoband Lords of Acid, he is just home from an American tour. And that is at least ‘crazy’ to name a few: 32 concerts in less than 35 days in 23 different states. “I’m 5 pounds lost, so grueling, it is. But I don’t prefer,” he says.

for 25 years, touring Maurice by the USA with his band Lords of Acid – now on the occasion of their new album ‘Pretty in Kink’, that came out last year. But still, each show just as overwhelming as that first time in 1994. “Weird, but I word that exactly never just,” says the producer and composer. The grueling life on a tour bus nor. “A lot of rock’n’ roll is really not, in contrast to what many people think. It’s so small: there are twelve beds, a small lounge and a place where you and your seven can sit, and bring you, eventually, up to 60% of the time. That’s really not to be underestimated.” Especially not if you are 35 days at a stretch with the same tour bus on the road and only 3 days rest.

Afterparty

The tour bus, with Maurice, his American musicians, his wife, and performer, Inja Van Gastel, and singer Marieke Bresseleers, held in no fewer than 23 states halt. The tour began on February 21st in Phoenix. Followed by Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, New York, Baltimore, New Orleans, Dallas… and eventually, on 27 march, to conclude in Las Vegas. “Almost every day we had a gig. That is so to arrive with the tour bus in the parking lot, soundcheck, interviews, food, yourself, prepare, occur, back in the bus about 700 km to drive to the next stop. And that same pattern every day,” explains Maurice. “And while the bus is driving, you try to sleep. Not simple as there are still a few people decide to have an afterparty. (laughs)”
