Seven candidates competed for eight minutes for ‘Meules’, one of the iconic paintings of haystacks in Giverny. The highest bidder offered eventually 110,7 million dollars, converted 98,77 million euro.

During the sale Tuesday in New York was a price extracted “which is 44 times higher than the previous record of the work”, it sounds still.
The sale of 55 impressionist and modern art brought in a total of something less than 350 million dollars in the coffers. In addition to the work of Monet was also a painting of Pablo Picasso sold for 20.7 million dollars.
