Film, the makers of The film ‘Serenity’ had it, but the premiere of the thriller delivered last weekend ‘just’ 4.8 million dollars (4.2 million euros) in American cinemas. To American standards that is a huge flop.
The film, which starring Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey playing the lead roles, took 25 million dollars to make.
The poor yield probably has to do with the bad reviews that the movie last week got. Critics were “not impressed” by the film and complained about the unbelievable twists and turns and the bad script.
The proceeds of ‘Serenity’, was in stark contrast to the lucratiefste film of the weekend. The film ‘Glass’ of ‘The Sixth Sense’ and ‘Unbreakable’director M. Night Shyamalan brought in the second weekend after its release converted $ 16.8 million.
