If you are one of the hundreds of thousands of people to have had a collective utility works contract (TUC) or other types of subsidized contracts in the 1980s, now is the time to report yourself. Since the new pension reform, these old systems can now be counted in the calculation of retirement rights. This Tuesday, a dedicated service to declare these periods was opened on the Retirement Insurance website.

The only conditions are that you must be at least 55 years old, and therefore have completed work of collective utility (TUC), in force from 1984 to 1990 – which consisted of “pre-training and preparation actions for professional life , based on 20 hours per week” – or other similar ex-vocational training courses. This concerns practical internships in companies (in force from 1977 to 1988), “young volunteer” internships (1982-1987), introductory internships into professional life (1985-1992) and local integration programs ( 1987-1990). According to figures from the Ministry of Labor, “nearly 1.7 million insured persons took part in a TUC contract between 1984 and 1990 and almost 1.15 million people joined the four other schemes between 1977 and 1992”.

In practice, the people concerned must connect to their personal space on lassuranceretraite.fr, select the service “Declare my internships and collective utility work (TUC)”, then proceed to the declaration, indicating the start and end dates. of the period concerned and attaching the necessary supporting documents. Without further details at the moment on the type of supporting documents requested, which may be more than forty years old. According to Le Parisien, the National Old Age Insurance Fund (Cnav) is still waiting for the State to provide in detail the conditions and type of documents to be presented. Except that the circular is not yet finalized. “We will refine it when it appears,” says Renaud Villard, the general director of Cnav, to our colleagues.

Online, declarations can be started now and completed later: they are “kept for 30 days”, specifies the official website. An email will be sent once the request has been verified by one of the advisors. Furthermore, it will also soon be possible to declare these TUC and other assisted contracts by mail.

When the pension reform was presented, the government said it wanted to correct the “injustice” of not taking into account periods worked under TUC contracts in pension rights. Concretely, these former subsidized contracts will entitle you to an additional quarter for each period of 50 days of internship, up to a maximum of four quarters.
