A south Korean taxi driver has lit himself on fire in protest against a new lift-sharing, like Uber, are establishing themselves in the country. The 57-year-old man, who died of injuries, was engaged in taxiförarnas unions and sat in his taxi outside the country’s parliament when he poured petrol over himself and lit it.
The new app launched by the company behind south Korea’s most popular chat application. The country’s taxi drivers have protested loudly against the new service, with the argument that it threatens their job and livelihood.
the Company Ubers activity is limited in south Korea, in large part because of successful protests from taxiförarna. But many drivers are worried the new app, since 80% of south koreans use the company’s meddelandeapp. The last few months, the drivers have held rallies in Seoul against the new app, which will be launched in the next week.
