This warning comes just weeks after Will Smith , an actor, slapped Chris Rock onstage at 2022 Oscars.

Other rules were mentioned in the letter, including its dress code and COVID-19 policies. These require that attendees are fully vaccinated.

The Tony Awards delayed the announcement of its nominations by one week on Friday — from May 2 through May 9. The cutoff date for eligibility in the 2021-2022 season has been delayed to May 4.

“Due to the difficulties that Broadway has experienced in recent weeks, we have decided, in an attempt to allow nominators, to see Tony eligible plays, to extend the deadline to eligibility requirements,” stated Charlotte St. Martin (president of The Broadway League) and Heather Hitchens (president and CEO of The American Theatre Wing) in a statement.

Due to COVID-19 cases among cast and crew, several Broadway shows had to cancel performances.

On Sunday, June 12, the 75th Annual Tony Awards will take place at Radio City Music Hall. The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET.
