Two cooks were indicted after the death in 2019, of food poisoning, of five residents of the Korian group nursing home in Lherm, Haute-Garonne, we learned on Tuesday from the Toulouse prosecutor’s office. The indictments for “manslaughter and involuntary injury by breach of an obligation of safety or caution, endangering the lives of others” were pronounced at the end of March for one, last week for the second.

On the evening of March 31, 2019, four women aged 72 to 95 and a 93-year-old man, residents of the La Chêneraie private nursing home, suffered from discomfort, vomiting and diarrhea after the meal, before dying. A total of 26 people were victims of this food poisoning.

Opened in 2006, La Chêneraie housed 82 residents at the time, including 17 people with Alzheimer’s disease or related diseases. According to a source close to the investigation, other summonses for indictments are planned.
