TV Twenty years after Jessy, The Mackenzie, the monsterhit ‘Innocence’ scored, throws mother, Rita (65) her strengths in the battle of ‘The Voice Senior. Its debut is not, because they used to sing still in the orchestra of Willy Sommers and taught her daughter to sing. “And now she has me enrolled,” laughs Rita.
‘It feels so good, come on and take me. It feels so good, I feel like an angel we go to Rita Roelandt (65) not tonight to hear you sing. “Dance like us, Jessy is not for me, though”, she laughs. Singing and performing, that. “I am a real stage animal, was, just like my daughter. Ten years ago, then I stopped, because my full-time job as a logistics assistant in the hospital not to combine fell with occur.”
Today Rita for five years with a pension and sings them at home on a daily basis “with the karaoke app on my iPhone”. Reason enough to take her in to write for ‘The Voice Senior,” thought daughter Jessy. “I knew really nothing at all, hey. Jessy has everything behind my back regularly,” laughs Rita. “A week for the blind auditions I received a message from the VTM with ‘Congratulations, you’re selected for ‘The Voice Senior’!’ (laughs) I would never have subscribed to, because who is still waiting for someone of 65 who sings? But I must now admit that I content am that Jessy me enrolled.”
The coaches and the viewers at home tonight, no doubt, pleased because Rita blows them with “At Last” from her idol, Etta James without difficulty toppled. Where daughter Jessie her singing has taken, we now know immediately. “Well, I’m on my 16th started singing and I never stopped,” laughs Rita. “On my 19th I still have singing lessons, followed by an opera singer. Those tricks until I is still increasing.”
