Three men who drove cars during the filming of an unauthorized music video for Marseille rapper Jul in Meurthe-et-Moselle were given suspended prison sentences by the Nancy Criminal Court on Friday. Licensed by the French Motor Sports Federation (FFSA), these three drivers aged around twenty were prosecuted for “motorized rodeos”, “endangering the lives of others” and “lack of insurance”. They were acquitted for the “rodeo” acts and sentenced for the other acts to respectively suspended prison sentences of three, four and six months as well as a suspension of their driving license of six months each.
On February 12, they participated in the filming of the clip C’est pas la Mairie, in a priority district of Toul, a title for which the Marseille rapper Jul, the most listened to artist in France in 2022, had collaborated with the rapper KVRA, originally of this town of Meurthe-et-Moselle. The event brought together more than 500 people.

In this case, the rapper KVRA and one of his friends were sentenced in July by the Nancy criminal court to community service and a fine of 600 euros respectively for having organized the filming of this clip. When it came to the FFSA pilots, debates centered on the question of “intentionality”: did they know they were taking part in an unauthorized event?
Prosecutor Stéphane Javet, who had requested a three-month suspended sentence, the confiscation of vehicles and the suspension of driving licenses, was convinced of this. He stressed that the fact that there was no barrier or signage should have alerted them, especially since the drivers are licensed by the FFSA and therefore signatories to a charter which prohibits them from driving outside the circuits. closed. “The decision is unfair,” reacted Gautier Abram, lawyer for one of the defendants. “Our clients did not have the information that it was a wild clip and we have all the evidence which shows that they thought they were filming with all the authorizations,” he maintained.
“This decision is all the more unpleasant as those who deceived them were fined. Justice did not severely condemn the good ones!”, he added, referring to the two organizers convicted in July. Heard by the Marseille police, the singer Jul was exonerated in this affair.
