The car manufacturer Renault has announced the opening of orders for the 100% electric Renault 5 E-Tech, the electric reincarnation of the legendary R5 and one of the most anticipated launches of the year in Europe. For now, the French brand will go on sale, starting on May 31, two of the five planned versions and the rest will be marketed in 2025.
The first two versions on sale, with the highest finishes in the range (’techno’ and ‘iconic cinq’), are those equipped with the largest battery (52 kWh), which provides a range of up to 410 kilometers in the WLTP combined cycle (about 450 km in the urban cycle).
Thus, the Renault 5 ’techno’ will be available from 32,900 euros (31,584 with a minimum discount), while the model with the ‘iconic cinq’ finish will be on sale from 34,900 euros (33,504 with a discount). In addition, clients will be able to benefit from the Moves III Program (up to 7,000 euros in aid) and the personal income tax deduction (up to 3,000 euros less in the income tax return).
These two versions will have a 150 HP electric motor, designed by Ampere and manufactured in France, which allows them to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 150 km/h.
In 2025, the rest of the versions of the 100% electric Renault 5 E-Tech will go on sale, called ‘five’, ‘evolution’ and the special Roland-Garros series. The first of them will be equipped with a 95 HP motor and a 40 kWh battery that provides an urban range of up to 300 kilometers, as announced by Renault. It will be the most affordable version with a starting price of 24,900 euros before aid.
The versions available when ordering are opened have extensive standard equipment, which in ’techno’ includes the heat pump, 11 kW bi-directional charger in alternating current, fast charging of 100 kW in direct current, automatic air conditioning, wheels of 18-inch alloy, reversing camera, adaptive cruise control and a double horizontal screen with a 10” digital instrument panel and a 10.1” central screen animated by the openR link multimedia system with integrated Google services and your electric route planner.
The standard equipment of the ‘iconic cinq’ version also includes the hands-free parking system, frameless interior rear-view mirror and heated steering wheel and front seats.
Customers who have pre-booked the Renault 5 E-Tech will be the first to be able to place orders. As reported by Renault, all of them are being contacted by the Renault network dealer they chose and will have 10 days (up to and including May 30) to configure and order their 100% electric Renault 5 E-Tech. From that moment on, they will be among the first customers to whom the vehicle will be delivered.
The 100% electric Renault 5 E-Tech is the first vehicle designed entirely on AmpR Small, Ampere’s new platform dedicated to electric vehicles in the B segment. It measures 3.92 meters long by 1.77 wide and 1.50 High. With a wheelbase of 2.54 meters and a completely flat floor, it offers enough interior space for five people and a 277-litre boot. In addition, the center of gravity is very low and it weighs between 1,425 and 1,525 kg (depending on the size of the battery), which guarantees good dynamic behavior.
