The Ortiz group construction company has prevailed in Colombia in the tender to build and operate the 5G Troncal del Magdalena 1 megaproject, Puerto Salgar-Barrancabermeja corridor, which is 259.6 kilometers long.
The highway contemplates a total investment of some 690 million euros, which makes it one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country.
Ortiz was one of the seven consortiums that bid for the concession, with a large Spanish presence. The construction group won out over Sacyr, OHLA and Acciona, which was bidding in alliance with Ferrovial.
The works include the construction of a second carriageway and variants in 146.5 kilometers, improvement of the existing carriageway in 148 kilometers and rehabilitation of the existing carriageway in 5.04 kilometres.
The next highway for which Ortiz is bidding is the Troncal del Magdalena 2 (Sabana de Torres-Curumaní). In the contest for this highway of another 600 million investment, it competes with the also Spanish Sacyr.
Ortiz has made a great commitment to Colombia, a country in which he already has two highway concessions under management
