But it was only recently that he got the courage to come out as a homosexual, when he was writing his memoirs and came to think of the love of his life, Philip, whom he met in the 1950s and had a relationship with.

Kenneth decided to in the first place to tell about his true sexuality to his lesbian daughter, Rebecca Mayes. He explained about his great love for Philip -a relationship that was broken because of the great opposition to homosexuality in the 1950’the UNITED states.

– I have been in ’the closet’ all my life. Far inside the cabinet behind the lots of coat hangers with clothes. When I recently opened the door to the closet, it was with great fear of what people would think and say, explains Kenneth to the Denver Post, and adds, that all his fears were dashed. The 90-year-old Kenneth was met with a wave of love and understanding from both his family and his friends.

Kenneth Field’s daughter, Rebecca Mayes, explains that she is exceedingly proud of his father:

– He is just so brave. And he’s not even aware of. He is a great man, explains Rebecca Mayes to the Denver Post.

The 90-year-old Kenneth has also already been active in the LGBT movement, where he has participated in various activities and charity work. Only three days ago attended the Kenneth in ‘Denver Pride Virtual 5 km. Walk’ and collected $ 450 to the local LGBT organistion in the town of Colfax in Colorado.
