In Lindesnes on the southern coast of Norway has opened on Wednesday evening, the first underwater restaurant in Europe. The building protrudes diagonally out of the water.

The dining room for 40 guests is located five meters below sea level and opens with a large panoramic window to the lake.

The brothers Gaute and Stig Ubostad invested in the construction of the Restaurants with the name “Under” approximately 70 million Norwegian kroner, which is equivalent to about eight million Swiss francs. Behind the design, the architecture firm Snøhetta, which also designed the Oslo Opera house.

260 for the 17-course menu

The restaurant experience, however, is not cheap. A 17-course menu will said per guest approximately 2250 crowns, so about 260 Swiss francs, the cost, the owners on Wednesday.

However, the “Under-booked” already to September. Around 7500 people have so far reserved a table. In the kitchen 10 chefs work. (chk/sda)
