”Cosmism” is Maria lind’s last major exhibition after seven years at Tensta Konsthall. This time she has lift the artistic expression of the historical political movements, locally and globally. As well as Dora Garcia’s exhibition turns the current Russian artists Anton Vidokle, and Arseny Zhilyaev to a socialist understanding of love at the time of the Russian revolution. Fittingly enough for Linds ended the era, put the duo focus on the overlooked philosophical branch cosmism – the eternal life philosophy.

Eternal life is a recurring question for both religion and science. In the same way as the medieval avlatsbreven once was a cost issue, likely the same apply to a future, completely digitized human being. But for kosmismens author Nikolai Fedorov could eternal life not only offered a few. He advocated love for all life – flora and fauna, particles and minerals – forever circulating in the cosmos. Hence the name of the philosophy.

is Vidokles filmtrilogi ”Immortality for all!”, as with the references to the early communist filmgenren ”popular culture” freely mixes the training materials, and artistic experimentation. It is reminiscent of contemporary essäfilmers video montage, assembled by a narration. In ”Immortality for all!” mixed in quotes from kosmismens history, philosophy and poetic expression, with the fictional documentary-style feature from a possible cosmism in the day.

solstänkta landscape in Khazakstan and into the Leninbiblioteket and the Moscow zoological museum. Recurring personification of seemingly local people narration. Between the historical clips and new stagings woven a narrative in which the kosmistiska philosophy is still active. It is mind-boggling.

the potential of solar Energy was important for the kosmisterna. They believed that man must develop from the photosynthetic ability of the plants to reuse this. According to the radical biochemist Vladimir Vernadsky was the solar activity also intricately linked with the historical stages of the society. Crisis, revolution, depression, or reunion – all caused by the sun’s radiation. This theory portrays Arseny Zhilyaev in the installation ”Laborer of the Sun” (2018), in which the solar panels form the altar for a fictional, future rymdsekt. Unfortunately, the fact a smart illustration of Vernadsky theory, and omits the further artistic openings.

For kosmisterna where museums and libraries are important stewards of what otherwise would be consumed and disposed of. Through literature and the works of art can the past life re-emerge, said they. Several kosmister were themselves artists and Kazimir Malevich, with its suprematistiska paintings, said to have been one.

for eternal life, will help the French artist, Philippe Parrenos parallel installation ”My Room is Another Fishbowl” to remind people about this. Around Vidokles and Arsenys installations, he has been inflated, the fish in thin threads. On the eve of their colorful forms, I ask myself what really is live and what that could be brought to life. Perhaps it is precisely what art is for.
