It is, indeed, no rest and no peace for the most working(n)the teen. Elin Säfströms third book on sextonåriga Tilda Modigh taking responsibility for an absent and dysfunctional mother, a grandmother who disappeared, complicated friend and love relationships, studies and a dog and also working full time to keep order in the world. A pretty scary image of a ”good girl” with too much responsibility and too great need for sleep. But she is also the Stockholm and the whole mittsveriges single guardian.
”Sömnernas sleep” is the third, but hardly the final part of Stockholm’s many world – gnomes, trolls, and other beings that live and operate in parallel with us ordinary muggles, and the few that have the task to keep track of these ostyriga characters, the guardians.
get the guardian in Sweden and since Tildas grandmother, the real security guard in the past disappeared under dramatic circumstances, perhaps dead, but in all the cases away, is now all the responsibility to keep order in the magical world in Stockholm on Tilda. And like the once Harry Potter, it turns out that the adult world kept most of the mission’s nature a secret for Tilda.
When the gnomes invade Stockholm for his tomteting, it heats up between the gnomes and trolls and violations occur time and time again and of the increasingly serious nature. Tilda need help and help will come, but can the elaborated and stressed the trust any person at all?
It is still resilient and entertaining language that lifts the books about Tilda. Her Stockholmiana had, however, won on to introduce some more environments in the books than the often repeated; grandmother’s apartment, tomtarnas pub and goblin’s sal – and possibly even some more magic essence (of course, there is a lot to choose from).
Säfström introduces actually a completely unlikely type that simply must get more space in future books; the kortvuxna, skägglösa (!) the plot, Jeanette of down jacket and a Hello Kitty cap. Clearly a future favorite.
