Miller’s Point. Fish Pescado opened the throttle.
The book
Bartolomeu “Fish” Pescado is a private detective, marijuana Dealer and a passionate Surfer in Cape town. For Surfing, he comes in the new Thriller “Sleeper” by Mike Nicol, however, because it all goes pretty haywire. A mysterious American woman, pretending to be in the financial sector, and is suspected to have the South African Minister of energy, killed, committed Fish to find the real killer. But then the Fish friendly policeman who worked on the case to bring before the eyes of the private detective. The woman disappears, her Bodyguard is found dead.
police officers, as well as South African and American agents are the Fish on the Mat, usually with bad intentions. Fishs girlfriend, an Ex-agent brought back from your old boss. It’s about a uranium Deal between a corrupt South African official with Connections to the very top in the government and apparently Iranian agents. Or are you about Isis terrorists? And what has this to do with the mysterious woman with all of this?
The South African author Mike Nicol designs in his third Thriller, with the sympathetic surfers and stoners Fish Pescado around the illegal nuclear business is a pretty bizarre hodgepodge with a whole range of actors, of which you do not know so exactly who or what they really work. On one hand this is pretty funny, especially when at the end of the Showdown on an abandoned Farm in the desert, the men with the guns, almost in line to grab one or the other of the parties Involved. On the other hand, the Background is quite serious how just in the last few days, about messages, about the enrichment of uranium in Iran show. In the novel, most of the agents take also the a or other body as collateral damage lightly. What calls but also Avengers on the Plan, such as the father of the killed Bodyguard.
In exactly 100 chapters, around 500 pages, Mike Nicol tells brilliant as in his earlier works, an explosive story of today’s South Africa. Action-Packed, with Humor, sharp dialogue, credible characters. And full of little observations about society and politics, but never too exuberant, but always exactly to the point. Whoever knows the earlier works Nicols, also, as a Bonus, it’s also a re-encounter with earlier figures, such as the unzimperlichen heroes of the so-called vengeance trilogy, returns here to return to avenge his daughter.
